The Cassowary is a large flightless bird from Australia and New Guinea. It is the biggest bird in Australia and the second biggest bird in the world after the ostrich. Cassowaries grow to be about 6.5 feet tall and weight about 60 kg. The largest known cassowary was 83 kg, which is bigger than most adult humans. The cassowary's lifespan is about 40 to 50 years. The females are bigger and more brightly coloured than the males. Cassowaries have powerful legs and helmet like crest on the head. Pay protect themselves by kicking.
