No, not all birds fly. The ostrich and the penguin are two birds familiar to us that cannot fly. The ostrich is found in the African Savanna. The penguin found in Antarctica, has wings modified into flippers to  aid it in swimming. These two are not the only examples of flightless birds. The emu, a large bird that lives in Australia and the crossowary which is found in Northern Australia and New Guinea are flightless. Two species of a bird called the rhea found in the grasslands of South America and a smaller bird the kiwi found in the grasslands of New Zealand are also flightless.

Most flightless birds lived where there are few natural enemies. But they have no protection against introduced predators and human hunters.
